Adrian Simcox Does NOT Have a Horse
The standoff is obvious from the cover; Adrian says he has a horse and Chloe refuses to believe him. By the end of this book there was not a doubt in my mind that Adrian DOES have a horse. Marcy Campbell has written one of those books that will stay with me for years and years. I have already come back to it numerous times since checking it out from my local library and each time, I see more clearly what is hidden in the illustrations Corrina Luyken designed. What is not hidden is the call for empathy in the story nor is the assertion that imagination can be a balm. We see what we want to see, yes?
